FIRST EDITION HARRY POTTER BOOK GOING UP FOR AUCTION
A first edition of HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE is set to fetch GBP7,000 ($14,000) when it goes up for auction in London later this month (Jun07).
Less than 1,000 copies of the first edition of the novel were published in 1997, marking J.K. Rowling's hugely successful debut in the literary world.
Other first editions of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone have previously gone under the hammer for GBP10,000 ($20,000), and experts at auction house Bonhams expect the sale on 26 June to match that figure.
The Harry Potter book series, which has to date sold more than 325 million copies around the world, will be complete when the seventh and final edition, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, goes on sale on 21 July.
