FILM-MAKER REFUSES TO VIEW RIVAL CAPOTE FILM

Director DOUGLAS MCGRATH refused to watch CAPOTE while he was making his own TRUMAN CAPOTE biopic INFAMOUS, because he was scared it might better his version. Infamous deals with the same timeline as Capote, in which both films follow the flamboyant writer investigating a shocking murder in a small Kansas town. But MCGrath couldn't bear to watch DAN FUTTERMAN's movie as he heard PHILIP SEYMOUR HOFFMAN's Oscar-winning portrayal of Capote was so good, he feared nobody would come and see his film. He says, "I couldn't bear to watch Capote in case I took ideas from it. I hear Philip is so good and I got scared because I thought who is going to watch two Capote films in a year. "I was tempted a lot of times to watch it but I did the right thing because I might have got depressed otherwise."
