FILM FANS GET LAST LOOK AT 'GET CARTER' CAR PARK
British film fans have been allowed a final look at a parking lot featured in cult gangster movie GET CARTER before it is demolished to make way for a new shopping centre.
A supermarket chain is to demolish the 1960s parking structure in Gateshead, England - which provided the location for a scene in which Jack Carter, played by actor Sir Michael Caine, kills a gangster by throwing him off the building.
Fans of the movie had campaigned to save the site - insisting its status as an iconic film location should save it from destruction - but local government officials failed to comply.
And visitors were allowed one last visit to the car park this weekend (26-27Apr08) before demolition begins later this week (begs28Apr08).
