FILM FANS CAMPAIGN TO SAVE 'GET CARTER' CAR PARK

British film fans have launched a campaign to save a parking lot featured in cult gangster movie GET CARTER. A supermarket chain plans to demolish the 1960s parking structure in Gateshead, England - which provided the location for a scene in which Jack Carter, played by actor Michael Caine, kills a gangster by throwing him off the building. Ian Freer, of British movie magazine Empire, says, "There are so few iconic British film locations and this is one of them. "If you are a Michael Caine fan, it would be one of the places where you would go to worship at his altar."
