FIELD DENIES AWARDS TANTRUM

Actress SALLY FIELD has denied throwing a tantrum over the current Hollywood writers strike at the recent Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles. The star was rumoured to have launched a scathing attack on Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg during Sunday's (27Jan08) ceremony - resulting in a heated argument between the pair. It was reported that Field was angry about the delay in resolving the walkouts by the Writer's Guild of America union members - which have crippled the U.S. film and TV industry since November (07). A representative for the actress concedes the discussion did take place, but insists it did not get out of hand, telling the New York Post's gossip column PageSix, "(Field) did not throw a tantrum. "She was sitting next to Alan (Rosenberg) at the table and wanted to talk to him, she didn't corner him. She thought talks should have begun sooner and was trying to relay information from other actors that contract negotiations should begin sooner rather than later, and he became incensed. She had to raise her voice to be heard over his. She has every right to express her opinion to him."
