FERRY FORGETS HIS OWN LYRICS

Veteran singer BRYAN FERRY stunned guests at a lavish bash party in France recently, because he had his lyrics printed on a board in front of him while he sang. The ROXY MUSIC frontman sparked rumours his memory is failing him by squinting at the board throughout his performance in the winter sports resort of Chamonix. A guest tells British newspaper the Daily Express, "He sang some of his classics - THE PRICE OF LOVE, SMOKE GETS IN YOUR EYES and STREET LIFE. The slightly embarrassing thing was that he had to have the words printed out on an idiot board in front of him in large size type. "After all these years, can't he remember his greatest hits?"

There is no story here. Bryan Ferry has had the lyrics on a stand in front of him for years. If the guests were "stunned" - and I doubt they were - it would only indicate that they are totally unfamiliar with Ferry as a live performer. 'The Price of Love' and 'Smoke Gets In Your Eyes' are not his "own lyrics" anyway. He did not write those two songs.

Come on, the man's 60 years old for heaven's sake - give him a break. None of us have memories that improve with age - and very few of us are blessed with a talent like his. Think how barren our lives would have been without his music.........
