FEIST SWEEPS THE BOARD AT JUNO MUSIC AWARDS

Canadian songstress Feist has won five prizes at the Junos, her native land's top music awards ceremony.

The 32-year-old, whose cult following was transformed into global success after the use of her song 1234 on an advert for Apple's iPod Nano, took home a prize in every category in which she was nominated.

She claimed artist of the year - defeating fellow Canadians Avril Lavigne, Celine Dion, Michael Buble and Pascale Picard - and won the songwriting prize.

The Grammy-nominated singer also won the single of the year award for 1234 while her album The Reminder, which has sold more than one million copies across the world, took the album of the year and pop album prizes.

"This was a good event and it was a nice marker for a year - a nice recognition for everyone who's out there, sweating blood and tears," she said afterwards.

"It's a nice moment but I don't know that music is meant to be a competition."

Dion had been the leading nominee but was not rewarded at the ceremony at the Calgary Saddledome while country-rock veterans Blue Rodeo took prizes for group of the year, best adult alternative album for Small Miracles and best video for C'mon.

R 'n' B star Rihanna took the best international album gong for Good Girl Gone Bad and Buble won the Juno Fan Choice trophy.
