FAYED'S UNCLE LAUGHS OFF DIANA ENGAGEMENT RUMOURS
DODI FAYED's uncle has laughed off Egyptian tycoon MOHAMMED AL FAYED's claims he was engaged to tragic British royal DIANA, PRINCESS OF WALES when they were killed in a Paris car accident nine years ago (31AUG97).
Al Fayed, owner of the Harrods department store in London, has always claimed the princess was not only engaged to his son, but was also four weeks pregnant with his child, at the time of fateful crash.
Investigations into the princess' death have found the royal was not pregnant, and friends close to Diana said she would not have become engaged after such a whirlwind romance.
Fayed's uncle HASSAN YASSIN says his nephew phoned him at 7pm on 30th August 1997 - just hours before he was killed - and insists that while Fayed planned to propose, he hadn't gone down on bended knee yet.
Yassin says, "He just said he was going to propose, only he was thinking to propose.
"I told him not to lose this girl. He replied, 'I am going to propose.'
"Nobody really knows the true story. The only two who knew are not with us today."
