Farrah Fawcett has been posthumously handed an Emmy nomination for her role as executive producer of her documentary 'Farrah's Story'.

Farrah Fawcett has been posthumously nominated for an Emmy award.

The late actress received the nod for her role as executive producer of special documentary 'Farrah's Story' - an account of her battle against cancer, aired shortly before she died last month.

The 'Charlie's Angels' actress was previously nominated for Emmys three times during her career, but never won.

Farrah's long-term partner Ryan O'Neal said yesterday (16.07.09) as the awards were announced: "I know that she is smiling that fabulous smile right now in heaven, and that she is grateful the show has been so well received not only by her peers in the industry but by the public at large."

Meanwhile, 'Grey's Anatomy' star Chandra Wilson - who is presenting an award at the Los Angeles ceremony, to be held on Sunday September 20 - was tricked by the show's organisers into thinking she hadn't been nominated.

Chandra - who is up for two awards, including Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama - said: "We did the rehearsal ahead of time and went down the teleprompter three times. My name wasn't there, so I was like, 'Cool,' but I'd been completely duped."

Chandra isn't the only star shocked at being recognised for their work.

Kathy Griffin was thrilled her show 'My Life on the D-List' received nominations in the Outstanding Reality Programme and Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special categories.

She said: "I know this industry isn't supposed to be about awards, but screw you and the horse you rode in on.

"I am truly honored the Academy has recognised my special talent and 'My Life on the D-List', specifically the episode where I was privileged enough to visit and perform at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Shout out to my one legged GIs."

Rainn Wilson - who is nominated in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy category for 'The Office' - said: "I am supremely honoured to be nominated for an Emmy for the third time.

"They say good things come in threes, like comets, omens and Jonas Brothers. God bless these United States of America."

The 61st Emmy Awards will be hosted by 'How I Met Your Mother' actor Neil Patrick Harris.
