FANS FIGHT FOR FRAU BLUCHER

Fans of Oscar-winning actress CLORIS LEACHMAN have launched a website in a bid to help land her the role she helped create in the theatrical adaptation of cult movie YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. Leachman originated the role of FRAU BLUCHER in the MEL BROOKS comedy and now fans of the film and the actress are keen for her to reprise the role when the Broadway musical opens later this year (07). MEGAN MULLALLY, SUTTON FOSTER and SHULER HENSLEY have already been cast in the musical, but the Blucher role remains open after Leachman, 80, reportedly flew to New York to have meetings with the producers last year (06), but was told at the beginning of 2007 she would not be a part of the musical version. Fans have launched the SaveFrauBlucher.com website, hoping that an internet petition and publicity will help garner Leachman the role she helped create in the 1974 film.
