A remake of FAME has beat RICKY GERVAIS' new comedy THE INVENTION OF LYING to the top of the U.K. box office last weekend (03-04Oct09).
The Office star's movie, about a world where no one has ever lied, debuted at number two with $2.6 million (£1.73 million), while the modern update of the 1980 drama is in poll position after earning $3.56 million (£1.78 million).
A new 3D version of the animated Pixar film Toy Story is also a new entry to the charts at three, while family favourite Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs falls to number four and Bruce Willis' movie Surrogates rounds out the top five.
