EX-WIFE KEEPS PROMISE AND PENS 'HONEST' ZEVON BOOK
Late rocker WARREN ZEVON insisted his ex-wife write an honest and, if necessary, unflattering biography of his life just days before he died in 2003.
Zevon was married to Crystal Zevon between 1974 and 1981, and the couple remained close until his death from cancer in September 2003.
In her new book I'll Sleep When I'm Dead: The Dirty Life And Times Of Warren Zevon, Crystal keeps her promise she would be as truthful as possible - even revealing the reformed alcoholic hit the bottle hard for the first time since the mid-1980s during his final year.
She recalls, "He said, 'You're going to have to tell it all - the whole truth, even the awful, ugly parts.'
"Warren had a real understanding of his own torment. And that came from having a mind that never quit."
