EX-STONE ROSES MUSICIAN TO HOLD ART EXHIBITION

Former STONE ROSES guitarist JOHN SQUIRE has announced plans to hold his first solo art exhibition in Oldham this summer.

The TEN STOREY LOVE SONG musician's pieces will be displayed under the title Heat, Light, Death and Industry and will be at the Gallery Oldham between July 7th and September 5th.

His work is made from oil, wax, lead and rusting steel and focuses on the role cardboard boxes play in modern society.

This exhibition will be followed by displays at Gallery Thiele in the Austrian city of Linz in October and Tokyo's Hipster Club in November.

Squire left THE STONE ROSES in 1996, following the release of THE SECOND COMING, and went on to form THE SEAHORSES before leaving the music world to concentrate on his artistic endeavours.

He has denied rumours that he will reunite with the band, even going as far as to unveil a piece of artwork stating he will never rejoin.

A message superimposed onto a piece of art said: "I have no desire whatsoever to desecrate the grave of seminal Manchester pop group The Stone Roses."

Earlier this month, it was announced that THE STONE ROSES are re-releasing their debut album, two decades after its original release.

The collector's edition of the self-titled record will contain unheard early recordings of some tracks.
