ERIC CLAPTON CANCELS OVER GALLSTONES

Legendary singer Eric Clapton has been forced to pull out of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 25th anniversary concerts because of gallstones.

Eric Clapton has been forced to cancel a show because of gallstones.

The legendary singer has pulled out of this week's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 25th anniversary concert in New York - which would have seen him perform at Madison Square Garden on Friday (30.10.09) - because he needs surgery to remove the stone-like deposits from his gallbladder.

A statement said: "Eric will spend time recuperating at home in the UK and is very sorry to disappoint the fans and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."

Bruce Springsteen is another act whose performance at the music event is uncertain.

He was forced to pull out of an appearance at the Spirit Center in Kansas City on Monday (26.10.09) following the discovery of his cousin Lenny Sullivan's body in a hotel room earlier in the day.

Other acts due to perform at the two shows - which will take place on Thursday and Friday - include Irish rockers U2, legendary soul singer Aretha Franklin, Metallica, Black Sabbath's Ozzy Osbourne and Annie Lennox.
