Eric Bana named his daughter after his favourite old Cadillac car.

The 'Time Traveler's Wife' actor - who has two children, 11-year-old son Klaus and Sophia, seven, with his wife Rebecca - paid tribute to his favourite old Cadillac when his daughter was born.

He said: "I have an old caddy that I called Sophia before my daughter was born, who also has the name Sophia.

"I really believe there's a force in our lives sometimes that draws us towards things. One of the things for me was cars."

Eric is such a fan of racing cars he often gives his beloved vehicles names that he thinks will suit their individual characters.

He told Parade magazine: "I call my old XD Ford Falcon 'The Beast,' it was my first car and I've had it for 25 years. After literally hundreds of hours of customising, sadly, I wrapped it around a tree during the Targa Tasmania rally in Australia.

"I have another race car I call 'The Widow Maker' because it's so scary to drive. My day-to-day truck has no name because it's just a day-to-day truck."
