EMI STRIKES DEAL OVER DEAN MARTIN IMAGE RIGHTS

Late crooner DEAN MARTIN's profile is set to sky-rocket after record company EMI Music, which owns the rights to his back catalogue, struck a deal to license his name, image and likeness. The star, who died in 1995 aged 78, left his image rights to the Dean Martin Trust, but EMI bosses have reached an agreement to take control of merchandising and publishing of the late singer. RONN WERRE, president of EMI Music Marketing, says, "Dean Martin is a world-class entertainer whose relevance and cultural impact are as strong in 2006 as when he was recording at Capitol Studios."
