EMERGENCY HEARING IN SPEARS CASE

An emergency hearing has been called into the ongoing custody battle between Britney Spears and her former husband Kevin Federline.

The court session, which will take place on Thursday, has been scheduled after the Baby One More Time star apparently failed to meet court requirements on drug tests.

Federline's lawyer Marc Vincent Kaplan had spoken to the authorities asking for the hearing to be held, after suspecting that Spears was not complying with court orders.

US magazine cites an unnamed source as saying that Spears was recently called to present a sample, but added that she could not be reached for an hour - thereby missing the session.

Previously, the judge ruling in the case called the pop princess
a "habitual, frequent and continuous" user of controlled substances and alcohol and ordered the star to submit to two tests every week.

Over the past month Spears has lost custody of her children, settled
one of the charges she faced in a parking offence case and faced court orders regarding drug tests and parenting classes.

She was recently awarded visitation rights to meet her children every week but the court has not yet restored Spears' joint custody arrangements.
