ELLIOTT SMITH RARITIES TO BE RELEASED

Late rocker ELLIOTT SMITH is to thrill fans from beyond the grave when a two-disc collection of unreleased songs is released later this year (07). NEW MOON gathers 24 tracks recorded by the star between 1995 and 1997 and is due for release in May (07). Among the tracks is an early version of Smith's song MISS MISERY, his Oscar nominated song from the GOOD WILL HUNTING soundtrack. A percentage of New Moon's proceeds will be donated to Portland, Oregon social services agency Outside In, which aids homeless youths. Smith died in 2003. His death was initially ruled a suicide although the Los Angeles police investigation remains open.
