ELIZABETH TAYLOR 'FINE' DESPITE HOSPITAL ADMISSION

Dame Elizabeth Taylor is "doing fine" despite being admitted to a hospital in Los Angeles, her spokesman has said.

The Oscar winner "entered the hospital for a routine visit and is doing fine", her publicist confirmed, after the 77-year-old's second hospital admission in the last year.

Her spokesman Dick Guttman said the National Velvet star was well enough to post messages on microblogging site Twitter, with which she has "fallen in love".

Guttman did not reveal any further details about the actress' health or where she is receiving treatment but said she "will be home soon".

The Cleopatra icon spent several weeks in a Los Angeles hospital last year but Guttman gave no details at the time other than confirming a report from People magazine which claimed Taylor had been discharged.

"Ms Taylor is at home and happy - and busier than ever," an unidentified friend was quoted as saying.

"She's living her life. She's been having dinner with friends. She's working."

A month earlier Guttman had criticised "dramatic, overstated and untrue" reports which claimed Taylor had been hospitalised with heart failure and put on life support.

Made an honorary Dame by the Queen in 2000, Taylor has suffered from a number of health problems in recent years and is confined to a wheelchair due to her osteoporosis.

A mother-of-four, she has broken her back five times, had a benign brain tumour removed and suffers from diabetes and congestive heart failure.

However, she denied claims she was suffering from Alzheimer's during a 2006 interview with CNN's Larry King.

"Oh come on, do I look like I'm dying?" she asked the talk show host.
