Elijah Wood - who stars in new animated film '9' - is obsessed with the number nine.

Elijah Wood is obsessed with the number nine.

The 28-year-old actor, who lends his voice to a character in new animated sci-fi movie '9', believes his lucky number is responsible for all the success he has enjoyed in his career.

He said: "It's following me around. It is so funny, too, because I didn't even make that connection when I signed on to this movie.

"I don't know what it is but there is clearly something about me and that number."

Elijah's infatuation with the digit began when he was cast in the 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy.

In the movies - which were directed by Peter Jackson - Elijah's character Frodo Baggins is one of nine members of the fellowship of the ring.

Elijah even has the numeral 9 tattooed on his arm in Elvish - the mythical language spoken in the big screen adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's books.
