ELBOW TALK FIFTH ALBUM

ELBOW have been discussing their forthcoming album, which they say will be a departure from their previous work.

The Manchester band have enjoyed huge success of late, with last album THE SELDOM SEEN KID winning the Mercury Music Prize last September, as well as being named the UK music critics' album of 2008.

However, bass player Pete Turner has said that the new album will kick off in a lively fashion.

"On all of our albums the first track is always a bit of a slow builder of a track but the next one we want to kick in with a punch right from the very beginning," he told BBC Radio 1's Newsbeat.

Keyboardist Craig Potter added: "We want to start the album off with a song that is just, 'Bash' and goes on from it."

Elsewhere, the band were recently honored at the annual South Bank Show Awards in London.
