EIGHTH WIFE AWARDED HALF OF SHAW'S ESTATE

The ex-wife of late jazz musician ARTIE SHAW has been awarded $1.5 million (GBP768,000) by a jury in California - half of the STAR DUST hitmaker's estate. EVELYN KEYNES, who featured in the legendary 1939 movie GONE WITH THE WIND, was the last of the musician's eight wives. Shaw, who died it 2004, had also been married to actresses LANA TURNER and AVA GARDNER. Keynes' lawyer, HENRY GRADSTEIN, told the Ventura hearing that after his client separated from Shaw the couple wrote a contract promising each other half of their estates.
