EDGAR WRIGHT CONFIRMS UK BOW FOR FULL-LENGTH GRINDHOUSE
Director Edgar Wright has confirmed that British audiences will get the chance to see a full-length version of Grindhouse.
The Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriguez double-bill was split into its separate halves of Death Proof and Planet Terror after an underwhelming performance at the US box office, meaning many international fans have not seen the project in its original form.
The division of the two exploitation flicks also resulted in the majority of audiences missing out on the trailers created specifically for the film, one of which was directed by Wright himself.
But talking to Empire magazine, Hot Fuzz helmer Wright has confirmed that the double-feature will receive a limited UK run, with a premiere taking place at London's Prince Charles Cinema, introduced by Wright himself.
"It's long overdue for fans to see it in its original intended form," he explained. "It's a shame it got split up overseas... I saw it a couple of times in the States, and I think it worked brilliantly."
Wright continued: "The Prince Charles is the perfect place for it. That movie-going experience doesn't have to be entirely state of the art, doesn't have to be digital projection.
"There's an atmosphere about that, and the snap, crackle and pop of watching films in that way, that never goes away".
Tickets for the Wright-hosted double-bill on March 8th - which includes the trailer directed by himself, as well as those from Eli Roth and Rob Zombie - are now on sale.
