EAVIS DENIES THE END OF GLASTONBURY
The organiser of British music festival Glastonbury has slammed reports 2008 will be the last year the legendary event is staged. Michael Eavis, 72, has dismissed reports the musical extravaganza - which first took place in 1970 - is to close, despite reports to the contrary. Eavis' daughter Emily has helped the music mogul run the event for the past eight years, but cast doubt on the future of the festival in a recent interview. She told Orange World News Service, "I feel we should ply everything into this as if it be the last. "Yeah, it's a risky, risky business and it would be nice to think, to know that it could go on forever. But I don't know if that's possible." But Eavis Senior insists the expression to "treat it as if it is the last" was taken out of context in the interview. Superstar rapper Jay-Z and Neil Diamond will be among the headliners of this year's (Jun08) festival.
