EASTENDERS CLEANS UP AT SOAP AWARDS

EastEnders swept the floor at last night's Inside Soap awards, winning nine gongs in total.

The BBC1 primetime show was helped by Lacey Turner, who took three awards including best actress, best couple with Charlie Clements, and best storyline for her role as Stacey Branning.

And it took the best soap crown off ITV1's Coronation Street, which had come back for its first win in ten years in 2007.

Nevertheless, Corrie's Rob Kazinsky (Sean) won best actor and sexiest male, while the sexiest female on our soap screens in the last year was judged to be Kara Tointon who plays Dawn.

Meanwhile Jack P Shepherd won best bad boy, Alison King (Carla) won the best bitch gong and Kym Marsh (Michelle) took the prize for best dressed soap star.

The smaller soaps struggled, with Channel 4's Hollyoaks only taking one prize for best young actor thanks to Ellis Hollins. Emmerdale's only prize for was Chris Chittell, who plays Eric Pollard. He won the outstanding achievement award.
