EALING STUDIOS TO UNDERGO REDEVELOPMENT
London's famous Ealing Studios is to benefit from a $95 million (GBP50 million) modernisation after ambitious redevelopment plans were given the go-ahead by the local council. Work is due to begin on the second phase of the redevelopment of the west London studios, which are the oldest film studios still in use in the world, before the end of the year (DEC06) Ealing Studios were made famous by British comedies like KIND HEARTS AND CORONETS, before being used by the BBC for TV shows such as MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS and DOCTOR WHO. The site was bought in April 2000 by the consortium spearheading the redevelopment project. Projects planned for next year (07) include CHRISTOPHER WALKEN thriller FADE TO GREY and CARMEN ELECTRA comedy I WANT CANDY.
