DYLAN SEALS FIFTH US NUMBER ONE WITH TOGETHER THROUGH LIFE
Bob Dylan has claimed his fifth US number one album after topping the British charts with his first release in three years.
Together Through Life, the songwriting legend's 33rd studio album, debuted at number one the UK album charts on Sunday, some 40 years after his first British chart-topper.
And according to industry monitor Nielsen SoundScan Dylan will top the Billboard 200 album chart in the US after Together Through Life sold more than 125,000 copies in its first week on release.
The album also debuted at number one in Austria and Denmark and will be the 67-year-old's second album to debut at the top of the US charts, after 2006's Modern Times gave him the first number one debut album of his career.
The Blowin' in the Wind star has recently mooted the idea of a possible collaboration with fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Sir Paul McCartney.
"That would be exciting - to do something with Paul," he told Rolling Stone magazine.
"But, you know, your paths have to cross for something like that to make sense."
A spokesman for the former Beatle said Sir Paul would be "very interested" in working with Dylan.
The top ten albums in the US are:
1 Bob Dylan: Together Through Life
2 Various Artists: Hannah Montana - The Movie OST
3 Rascal Flatts: Unstoppable
4 Rick Ross: Deeper Than Rap
5 Lady GaGa: The Fame
6 Various Artists: Twilight OST
