DUFF'S SCHOOL VISIT TO HELP NEEDY KIDS
Actress/singer HILARY DUFF has given her backing to a campaign to ensure students from low-income families don't go hungry.
The 20-year-old visited an elementary school in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Tuesday (21Oct08) to promote the Blessings in a Backpack programme.
The campaign provides needy children with bags full of food so they have plenty to eat for an entire weekend.
It was launched to ensure youngsters from struggling families have a balanced diet to improve their performance in the classroom.
Duff says, "I feel lucky enough to have a voice or a name that people might pay attention to.
"I think that people might not be aware that a couple neighbourhoods away, kids aren't having food on the weekends, and we just want people to be informed and to know what's going on in their communities and to help if they can."
