DOUBLE WIN FOR KYLIE AT BT DIGITAL MUSIC AWARDS
Kylie Minogue took two prizes at Wednesday night's BT Digital Music awards in Camden, north London.
The Australian pop pixie took the best pop artist prize at the ceremony at the Roundhouse as well as scooping the best innovation award for her Kylie Konnect site, a social networking venture.
Coldplay took the best rock/indie artist award and best official website prizes while Radiohead were named artists of the year.
The honours followed the two bands' innovative approaches to record releases in the last year, with Radiohead's In Rainbows available for download months before its official release. Fans were able to specify how much they wished to pay for the album.
Coldplay followed a similar tack with the release of their single Violet Hill, which was made available as a free download prior to release.
"The music industry is continuing to evolve, with artists and record companies seeking new ways to communicate with fans digitally," said BT's Matthew Dearden.
"The BT Digital Music Awards recognises the artists and those in the industry, both established and up and coming, who are delivering the best in cutting-edge digital music entertainment."
Vampire Weekend took the best breakthrough artist, with Hadouken! named best electronic act and Wiley claiming the best urban artist award.
Sugababes kicked off the awards in north London while Mercury nominees British Sea Power, Scandinavian pop-punk Ida Maria and 19-year-old singer-songwriter Sam Beeton also performed.
The awards will be televised on ITV2 on Saturday October 4th.
