DONOVAN'S TENNANT WAS SALMAN RUSHDIE
Former pop hunk JASON DONOVAN was stunned when he came face to face with his new tennant - controversial author SALMAN RUSHDIE.
The singer put his West London house up for sale in the 90s - and couldn't believe it when Rushdie expressed an interested in renting the pad.
Rushdie was issued a fatwa in 1989 over his Muslim references in controversial 1988 work The Satanic Verses.
Donovan recalls, "Salman took up residency in my former home - but not until he had made some adjustments to the place.
"You don't mind if he makes a few little alterations, do you?' asked the agent.
"He'd like to put up some bookshelves ... and he'll need to get the house bomb-proofed."
