DONOVAN SENDS ADVICE TO WINEHOUSE + SPEARS
Australian pop star JASON DONOVAN blames money and fame on singers AMY WINEHOUSE and BRITNEY SPEARS' troubled lifestyles.
The former soap star, who once battled drug addiction, believes the stars turned to illegal substances in a bid to cope with fame at a young age - just like he did.
Donovan, 39, says, "A lot of what happened to me had to do with circumstance. I was only 17 when I walked into a television show that totally changed my life.
"Britney Spears is a classic example - a lot of money, became very famous, very young and she just wants to rebel, she wants to f**k up the image, she wants to crash the car and become different, cool.
"I was exactly the same... but I can't tell Britney what to do. All I can say is that there's no such thing as being cool, you've got to just be yourself.
"But I can understand it, I've been there. Ultimately, Amy Winehouse has made the choice - she wanted to be a pop star, I'd imagine, or a credible artist, whatever.
"My advice to Amy or Britney would probably be, if you don't like it, become a plumber."
