Dr - Donda West's Surgeon Has A History Of Malpractice Lawsuits

LATEST: Plastic surgeon DR. JAN ADAMS, who operated on KANYE WEST's mother DONDA, has been sued three times over the last two years (05-07) for medical malpractice. The rapper's mum Dr. Donda West died suddenly in Los Angeles on Saturday (10Nov07) following complications arising from cosmetic surgery. Adams has since denied responsibility for the 58-year-old's death, insisting he "did nothing wrong" in the eight-hour long tummy tuck and breast reduction procedure he carried out on West on Friday (09Nov07). But on Tuesday (13Nov07), website TMZ.com revealed that Adams is already being sued by three former patients, who have accused the doctor of various surgical blunders. The most recent lawsuit comes from a Californian woman who underwent surgery for breast augmentation, a tummy tuck and liposuction in June (07). In the lawsuit filed in California's Orange County Superior Court, Terrie Cage claims Adams and another doctor "negligently and carelessly examined, diagnosed, cared for, treated and performed surgery upon plaintiff, failing to follow the standard care...". Cage claims she has been "rendered sick, sore, lame and disabled" as a result of the surgical blunder. TMZ.com has also exposed further details of Dr. Adams' shady past - legal papers filed by the Medical Board of California in April (07), which asked to revoke or suspend the surgeon's medical licence. The papers cited two convictions for DUI - in 2003 and 2006 - and Adams was also found guilty of another charge in 1994. An autopsy will be carried out on West's body by the L.A. County Coroner's Department on Tuesday (13Nov07) to determine the exact cause of death.
