Spanish singer PLACIDO DOMINGO is so desperate to boost the profile of opera, he is writing his own guide to the musical genre. The Three Tenors star, who has enjoyed huge success alongside JOSE CARRERAS and LUCIANO PAVAROTTI, hopes new book THE JOY OF OPERA will make it more accessible to ordinary people. He says, "Opera for so many people remains a mystery, a curious and strange art form when it really should be much more part of our everyday lives." The book is scheduled for publication in 2009. It will give overviews of some of the greatest operatic pieces and also explain what make a singing star.
