DOHERTY AND SKINNER RECORDING TOGETHER

PETE DOHERTY and MIKE SKINNER have teamed up to rework a THE STREETS track about cocaine. The DRY YOUR EYES rapper first met BABYSHAMBLES frontman Doherty at a festival in Japan when he was still with THE LIBERTINES, and has been trying to collaborate with him ever since. The song PRANGIN' OUT deals with Skinner's drug excesses and he knows Doherty - who is a recovering heroin and crack addict - is his perfect accomplice for the project. He says, "I was the same generation as The Libertines and the first tour we ever did was in Japan with them. It was a festival tour where I first met CARL (BARAT) and Pete. "I wanted to get Pete on WHEN YOU WASN'T FAMOUS but that didn't happen. He's quite a difficult person to get hold of. "His style on Prangin' Out reminds me of his early stuff, but I wouldn't call it 'rapping'. Pete's more of a poet, so it sounds really poetic. "He makes my drug escapades look like schoolboy stuff. He's written the book on excess and tabloid problems."
