DMX ARRESTED FOR FAILING TO ATTEND COURT HEARING

A lawyer for the rap star DMX has said he has been arrested in Miami after he failed to attend a court hearing.

Charles Kozelka said the rapper, real name Earl Simmons, had checked into hospital on the day he was due in court in Phoenix and had been planning on entering rehab afterwards.

Those plans were ruined though when an arrest warrant was issued on Tuesday after DMX didn't appear at a pre-trial hearing.

He is charged with four counts of possessing drug paraphernalia and one count of possession of marijuana.

The rapper, 37, also faces several animal cruelty and drug possession charges after he was arrested in May when police officers raided him home in Arizona.

DMX has sold over 55 million albums worldwide and is the only artist ever to have five consecutive albums debut at number one on the Billboard charts.
