DJ KAY SLAY SLAMS JIVE FOR DROPPING PAPOOSE

Hip-hop DJ KAY SLAY has hit out at Jive Records for dropping PAPOOSE from his $1.5 million (GBP750,000) record deal, branding the last 12 months "a f**king year of hell". The Busta Rhymes-affiliate was released from his record contract on 19 September (07), despite much hype over his impending debut album. His DJ, Kay Slay, has blamed Jive for failing to assign an appropriate mentor for the 28-year-old rapper and insists the two are now celebrating their newfound freedom. He says, "We have officially gotten our release from Jive f**king records. It was like a f**king year of hell... Unfortunately, we almost became victims of A+R hell. "You cannot put a 60-something-year-old white man on a 20-something-year-old black kid's project from Brooklyn, and think it's gonna pop. It's reality. But... we are free. Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty, free at last. We are very happy, we're popping champagne. We got our release from Jive Records, and we're just moving on."
