DIRECTOR FIRES BACK AT GERVAIS STORY
LATEST: Moviemaker DAVID KOEPP has hit back at reports he regrets casting British funnyman RICKY GERVAIS in a Hollywood comedy, insisting it was a privilege to work with the creator of TV hits THE OFFICE and EXTRAS.
The Ghost Town director and screenwriter allegedly told a British newspaper that hiring Gervais was a "risk," adding "it's whether
we can get enough people who have heard of him to go to the movie".
But Koepp insists there's no way he regrets working with Gervais, calling the suggestion of such "crazy".
He says, "I don't know how anyone could have drawn that conclusion from my comments. Ricky Gervais is the single greatest thing about our film, and what I thought I clearly said was that it was our privilege to bring him to a wider American audience.
"The only thing I regret is that I'm not as talented as he is."
