DIANA VOTED OFF X FACTOR

Diana Vickers has become the ninth contestant to be voted off the latest series of the X Factor, missing out on a place in next week's grand final.

The 17-year-old from Blackburn finished behind fellow Cheryl Cole protégé Alexandra Burke, Louis Walsh's group JLS and Simon Cowell's young male singer Eoghan Quigg.

Diana sang Avril Lavigne's Girlfriend and White Flag by Dido in her final appearance on the ITV1 show

After finding out she would be leaving, Diana said: "I've had the time of my life.

"I absolutely loved it and I want to say thank you to all the people who looked after me - Cheryl."

And Cheryl, who was in tears after finding out her act had finished bottom of the voting, added: "I don't think we have seen the last of you, you will be back."

This year's series has been dogged by rumours that Diana and Irishman Eoghan, 16, have been dating away from the show, despite the Lancashire teenager having a long-term boyfriend back home.

And the reaction of Eoghan added fuel to the fire as they hugged and were in tears when the news came through.

In an intimate moment, Diana whispered to her friend: "I know you can win it."
