DEVITO SUED OVER FILM PROJECT

Actor DANNY DEVITO is facing legal action over an upcoming movie project - the star has been accused of failing to honour a financial agreement with one of the film's backers.
DeVito is currently working on an adaptation of 1990 Avi novel True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle but the production has been thrown into jeopardy amid claims he failed pay New York businessman Michael Caridi a $500,000 (£333,333) fee for raising money for the film.
Caridi has filed papers at Manhattan Supreme Court claiming he struck a deal with the star's Jersey Films production company to raise $10 million (£6.67 million) for the movie, which will star Morgan Freeman and Pierce Brosnan, in return for a five per cent fee.
Caridi's lawyer, Robert Hantman, tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "This type of reneging on a deal happens all too often in the entertainment world and must be stopped."
But DeVito is confident the legal action will be thrown out of court. A representative for the star says, "The lawsuit is entirely without merit. The judge will see through it in a millisecond."
