DEVITO 'NOT A DRUNK'

Rosie O'Donnell has leapt to the defence of Hollywood actor Danny DeVito, who appeared on a US chat show after having one too many drinks the night before.

DeVito had been out drinking with People magazine's sexiest man alive, George Clooney, before plonking himself down on the show's sofa and saying that he "knew it was the last seven limoncellos that was going to get [him]".

And when asked if he had been to sleep, DeVito confessed that he didn't know, before proceeding to tell the world about the bedroom antics he got up to while staying at the White House with his wife.

O'Donnell, who is one of the co-hosts of The View, said afterwards: "Danny DeVito is not an alcoholic. He's just a guy who had too many with his friend."

Elisabeth Hasselbeck, another co-host, added that "he was a fun drunk".

Barbara Walters, the show's anchor, also brushed off any criticism of the pint-sized actor, saying that he would be welcome back on the show.

"We love him, we'll have him on again," she said.

DeVito is currently starring alongside Matthew Broderick and Kristin Davis in the holiday comedy Deck the Halls as a neighbour who becomes overly competitive with his Christmas lights.
