DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN SHUTS EARLY

A London stage adaptation of MADONNA movie DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN is closing just one month into its run following disastrous ticket sales. The West End show, which features a number of songs by American rock band Blondie, has been blasted by critics since its recent world premiere (Nov07) - and now faces an early closure next month (15Dec07). Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry even wrote new song Moment Of Truth especially for the musical - in the hope that the production would eventually reach Broadway, New York. But in a statement released on Friday (30Nov07), producers confirmed the show's demise: "Despite fantastic performances and enthusiastic audiences, the ticket sales have not been sufficient and we have had to make the difficult decision to close the show. "The producers wish to thank the talented cast, creative team and company for all their hard work and dedication to this production."
