DESPERATE DOUG GETS A NEW KNEE

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES star DOUG SAVANT has a new spring in his step after doctors replaced a battered kneecap recently and ended decades of agony. The actor admits he has been living in pain for nearly 30 years after his leg was crunched in a crippling American football play back in 1979. Savant, who plays Tom Scavo in the hit show, says, "I've been bone on bone for 27 years." The actor has undergone several reconstructive surgeries, but decided to get his knee completely replaced last month (May07), and he's already well on the way to recovery. He adds, "I'm already on my feet without the use of crutches or anything."
