DESCHANEL TO PLAY SCI-FI DOROTHY

ZOOEY DESCHANEL is set to play a DOROTHY-like character in the US Sci Fi channel's upcoming miniseries based on L FRANK BAUM'S classic book THE WONDERFUL WIZARD OF OZ. The ELF star will play DC, a young woman plucked from her normal life and thrust into the Outer Zone (O.Z.), a fantasy realm that also has a dark element. Deschanel will star opposite ALAN CUMMING, who has been cast as GLITCH, a scarecrow-like character in the show, which is tentatively titled TIN MAN. The six-hour miniseries is scheduled to begin production next month (MAR07) in Vancouver, Canada and will premiere in December (07).
