DEPP OPENS UP ON DAUGHTER'S ILLNESS

Johnny Depp has admitted that his daughter's recent illness gave him and his long-term partner Vanessa Paradis a "great scare".

Seven-year-old Lily-Rose was admitted to hospital with potentially fatal food poisoning two months ago, causing filming of Depp's latest movie Sweeney Todd to be delayed as he kept a bedside vigil along with Paradis.

In an interview with the Daily Mirror, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor said that Lily-Rose has "come through it beautifully".

"What got us through this wasn't the strength of Vanessa or me but our daughter and her incredible ability to make us feel OK even though she was very unwell. She was super-strong," he said.

"It was a very bumpy patch but she has come through it beautifully and unscathed and she is now as healthy as she always was. She is wonderful. It was a reminder to us of how lucky we are to be able to breathe, walk, talk, think and surround ourselves with people we love."

Following their daughter's recovery, Depp and Paradis are now reported to be planning on tying the knot this summer.

A wedding is rumoured to be taking place in a chapel within the 50-acre grounds of their home in the village of Plan de la Tour in the south of France.
