DEPECHE MODE WIN EUROPE BATTLE WITH GREEN DAY

DEPECHE MODE have beaten GREEN DAY in the battle of the trios in Europe by claiming a fourth week at the top of Billboard's European Top 100 Albums chart.
Despite frontman Dave Gahan's stomach illness, which has prompted the British rockers to scrap nine dates on their current European tour, Depeche Mode still rule the continent's album charts with Sounds of the Universe.
Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown, which has debuted at the top of album charts in the U.K. and U.S., enters the European countdown at two.
The California punk band's last album, American Idiot, was Europe's best selling release in 2005.
Meanwhile, 13 appears to be lucky for Lady GaGa - her Poker Face has scored a 13th week as Europe's top single. Her The Fame slips to three on the album chart.
