DENVER HIT NAMED COLORADO STATE ANTHEM

Late country star JOHN DENVER's ROCKY MOUNTAIN HIGH was yesterday (12MAR07) named the second official anthem for the US state of Colorado, the singer's adopted home. The song, which became a hit for the tragic musician in 1972, now stands alongside the original WHERE THE COLUMBINES GROW, which has been the state anthem since 1915. Denver's brother RON DEUTSCHENDORF says, "He'd be very honoured. We are very proud. I am going to call my mom and tell her." Denver died in October 1997 aged 53, when the aircraft he was piloting crashed off the coast of Pacific Grove, California.
