DEMPSEY STRUGGLED TO OVERCOME DYSLEXIA

Hollywood heartthrob PATRICK DEMPSEY almost quit acting before he landed his comeback role in hit TV series GREY'S ANATOMY - because he was fed up with losing parts as a result of his dyslexia.
The actor made a name for himself in the 1980s starring in movies like Loverboy and Can't Buy Me Love, but his career faltered in the 1990s and he found himself constantly looking for his next big role.
But, despite attending numerous auditions, he kept losing out to his contemporaries because his disability left him struggling to easily read scripts.
And the 42-year-old had just given up trying to build a career in Hollywood when he landed the part of surgeon Dr. Derek 'MCDreamy' Shepherd in medical drama Grey's Anatomy.
He says, "Because of my dyslexia I had to memorise all the dialogue for auditions. If I forgot it, I would then have to get over my frustration. If you constantly don't get the part it's very frustrating."

Look Patrick is a very smart man..he obviously has taken advantage of the women in his life as they have come. This woman taught him a awful lot, she gave him the nuts to do what he had to do to excel in what he wanted to achieve. He's not the first man who has taken this to his advantage...I am not saying that this is a bad thing. But as you can tell he constantly gives his wife Jill the platitudes of taking him to his fame. His first wife was his first lesson in life to take him to the place he wanted to go with. He knew he wanted to be famous and he took advantage of the time and the space. He was beautiful, and intelligent, and savvy, and he used it to his advantage. I don't blame him at all. This world is tough, and especially coming from a rural area you have to learn to use this time to your best advantage. He can blam it on movies "The Graduate" but I think he had something that a lot of men have. If she is willing to give it, than I am willing to take it. Any man or any woman would have taken this road, especially back than in hollywood. Hollywood is tough and it's no joke, he wanted to be famous, he stated that he told his parents that "someday I will be famous", and he was on a mission. It's not that she just took advantage of a young man. He took advantage of the time and the space allowed him, and than time and spiritual need took advantage of him...he is still under a womens skirt that stood behind him, and gave him time to succeed. I don't think that is a bad thing, I think a lot of men can learn a lot from his journey. He found a gal that he was at least attracted too..thank god in the end..that stood behind him, and gave him the hootspah to do what he set out to do. He's just one of the lucky ones that stead fast and stood behind her too..but I think Jill should receive major kudos...because her mission was completed as well..she's no dummy..and she saw something that could be, and made it happen..
