DEMME REPLACING SCORSESE ON MARLEY FILM
Martin Scorsese, a feature-film director who has occasionally made documentary films
about famous musicians, has been replaced as director of a documentary about Bob
Marley by Jonathan Demme, another feature-film director who has occasionally made
documentary films about famous musicians. Scorsese, whose most recent film was the Rolling
Stone documentary Shine a Light, said that he could not continue work on the
Marley film because of "scheduling conflicts." Marley's son Ziggy welcomed the change
and expressed confidence that Demme's participation in the project would result in
"the ultimate celebration of my father's life." Demme made the 1984 Talking Heads
documentary Stop Making Sense and the 2006 Neil Young documentary Heart
of Gold.
