Demi Lovato, the 18-year-old singer and actress, has left her current tour with the Jonas Brothers and checked herself into rehab in order to "seek medical treatment for emotional and physical issues she has dealt with for some time", reports MTV News.
Lovato had been playing 'Camp Rock' shows in South America, but speculation of unrest began to intensify earlier in the week when she shut down her 'Twitter' page, something that she regularly used to communicate with fans. Today (November 2nd 2010), People Magazine report that a source close to the Lovato family revealed that the singer was bullied at school, and that the trauma has stayed with her, adding, "She fought through eating disorders and has struggled with cutting".
In the wake of a number of teenage suicides, Lovato promoted a 'Teens Against Bullying' campaign last month, and speaking about her own experiences the singer said, "I actually used all of the bullying as a motivation to succeed. I think I have actually become a stronger person because of it". The 18-year-old was three months into a world tour with the JONAS BROTHERS and it looks likely that she will miss dates in Brazil, Chile, and Argentina.
