DEF LEPPARD STAR ELLIOT SLAMS ILLEGAL DOWNLOADS
DEF LEPPARD singer JOE ELLIOT has joined the fight against music piracy - insisting fans who illegally download tracks over the Internet should face criminal charges.
The Hysteria rocker is urging British politicians to tighten the law to make sure people who indulge in illicit file-sharing face proper punishment.
And Elliot is convinced the current scheme, which involves Internet suppliers sending warning letters to persistent offenders, is too lenient - because illegal downloading is theft.
He says, "They should apply the same rules to someone stealing my music as they would do if a politician had his Rolls-Royce (car) stolen out of his garage. He'd be p**sed off and do something about that."
